Module 3 – RECOGNIZING SAFETY HAZARDS AND APPROPRIATE CONTROL MEASURES

This module would provide vital information and ideas on recognizing, assessing, controlling, & evaluating Hazards in the workplace.

Not all of us work in roles that are considered dangerous. But just because you don’t have a “dangerous job” doesn’t mean that you or your employees can’t suffer a workplace accident. Every single job has its own hazards. If you don’t take those hazards seriously, every job becomes a dangerous job. Recognizing, assessing, controlling, and evaluating hazards is integral to the safe operation of an organization.

Specific Learning Objectives:

At the end of this module, each participant would be able to:

1. Explain the importance of good housekeeping, materials handling and storage;

2. Explain the general concepts of 7S of Good Housekeeping;

3. Explain the basic of fire safety, fire science, and the different fire safety appliances needed to combat fire in the workplace.

4. Explain how to use fire extinguisher in putting out small fires.

5. Explain the basic mechanical safety especially the importance of machine guards.

6. Explain the basic electrical safety especially the importance of practicing Lock-Out-Tag-Out.

7. Explain the basic Chemical safety, especially the MSDS, GHS.

8. Explain the basic practices of handling treatment, storage and disposal of general wastes and biomedical.

At the end of this module, there will be a 20-item quiz that would serve as a review question in preparation for the FINAL POST TEST that would be administered after completing Module 1-6.
